Support Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence plays a truly pivotal role in a child's social and emotional development. We need to constantly encourage our children to bravely confront, identify and fully express their emotions, while also teaching them empathy and compassion to themselves and others. We need to normalize children experiencing an array of emotions. Instead of suppressing any emotion and labeling it bad, we need to try and help them develop effective coping mechanisms and strategies for navigating through and managing raw, unpleasant and difficult emotions. By nurturing and facilitating emotional intelligence, we can equip our children with valuable tools to work through life's challenges and build strong relationships with themselves, along with others.
